Den of Vipers

Would you like to be a Viper’s girl?

⭐⭐⭐

1. DEN OF VIPERS by K.A. Knight

SYNOPSIS

Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel—The Vipers. They run this town and everyone in it. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me.

They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant. These men, they look at me with longing. Their scarred, blood-stained hands holding me tight. They want everything I am, everything I have to give, and won’t stop until they get just that. They can own my body, but they will never have my heart.

The Vipers? I’m going to make them regret the day they took me.

This girl? She bites too.

BOOK REVIEW

“Every touch, every look is a balm into the soul of a girl who was never loved properly. One day, it might consume us all and we might explode. But what a beautiful death it would be.”

There has been a lot of hype around Den of Vipers by K.A. Knight. Well, what can I say? We—readers—are some real thirsty bitches. The book was an extremely explicit dark romance with lots of trigger warnings. Ehm… Not exactly romance, but rather an unnecessarily long story with a very faint plot but a jarring variety of graphic sex scenes with all of the main characters.

“My failures are mine, and I have to learn from them.”

Roxxane and Ryder were an addictive power play. The only relationship in the entire book that gave me some hope for a proper romance to continue reading.

“Goddamn, Roxy, how are you this fucking perfect? Even when you’re fighting me, you make it so easy to love you, to want you,” I murmur, licking along her chin to her chest as I kiss over her heart. “To need you. I only ever feel alive when I’m inside you.”

Roxxane and Kenzo were a good balance between fierce and tender. Their dynamic briefly reminded me of Tiernan and Noah from Credence by Penelope Douglas. Very briefly.

“My hands are scarred and blood-stained, her flesh too perfect to touch, but I will. I’ll dirty her with them, with the very hands I kill people with, because I can’t not.”

Roxxane and Garrett were a game of submission with the latter being too broken and restrained to let himself feel in the first place.

“Just once, I want someone to match me, to not burn in my fire, but be reborn in it.”

Roxxane and Diesel were unrestrainedly crazy on the verge of insanity. Too kinky for my personal liking.

“It’s a double-edged sword with each of the Viper boys. They love as deeply as they hate. They hurt as much as they breathe, and I am in the middle of all of that, with all of their eyes and attention on me. If I’m not careful, they could kill me as easily as they love me. I stole their hearts, and they stole mine.”

Now, I don’t wish to be sounding harsh and overly critical. The underlining idea was interesting but the book turned out to be pure porn. And even though I’m thirsty just as everybody else is, I believe that this sub-genre of a reverse harem is a bit tricky to pull out—there should be substance to this sort of relationship. Balming their tortured souls with the help of sex was just not it, at least for me. The rest you can conclude yourself.
