1. SUDDENLY YOU by Lisa Kleypas
SYNOPSIS
She was unmarried, untouched, and almost thirty, but novelist Amanda Briars wasnβt about to greet her next birthday without making love to a man. When he appeared at her door, she believed he was her gift to herself, hired for one night of passion. Unforgettably handsome, irresistibly virile, he tempted her in ways she never thought possible... but something stopped him from completely fulfilling her dream.
Jack Delvinβs determination to possess Amanda became greater when she discovered his true identity. But gently-bred Amanda craved respectability more than she admitted, while Jack, the cast-off son of a nobleman and Londonβs most notorious businessman, refused to live by societyβs rules. Yet when fate conspired for them to marry, their worlds collided with a passionate force neither had expected... but both soon craved.
BOOK REVIEW
Suddenly You by Lisa Kleypas was absolutely fantastic. My most favourite book by the author to date.
No one had ever said such things to her before. People were intimidated by her self-possession and no-nonsense demeanor. No man would ever dream of calling her adorable, sweet, darling... and certainly, no one had ever made her feel that way.
Amanda Briars was a 30-year-old virginal spinster who dedicated her life to writing novels. Her little βproblemβ was actually not a problem at all, but she decided to finally get rid of it on her birthday with the help of a complete stranger but the one who actually knew what he was supposed to be doing in a professional sense.
βGood,β he said softly. βSet the world afire. Just let me hand you the matches.β
Jack Devlin was a bastard child of an English nobleman but at the same time, Londonβs most successful publisher and a notorious rake. Interested in Amandaβs stories, he came to visit the author at her residence but got mistaken for the prostitute Amanda was nervously waiting for. Jack was confused at first but then intelligently realized the situation and got keen on giving her the best birthday present in her life haha. Nothing got too far though, but their encounter was definitely steamyβ¦
βHow do I look?β Amanda asked.
Jack shook his head ruefully as he glanced at her. No one could mistake the remaining flush on her cheeks, or the soft sparkle of her eyes, or her lusciously swollen mouth, for anything other than the results of physical passion. βLike youβve been ravished,β he said flatly.
She astonished him by smiling. βHurry, please. I want to go inside my house and consult a looking glass. Iβve always wanted to know what a ravished woman looks like.β
Needless to say, things between Amanda and Jack didnβt end that night and escalated rather quickly. After all, he was used to getting what he wanted. And what Jack did want was Amanda in both professional and very personal aspects of his life. The dynamic between the two was remarkable. Their assertiveness and boldness and smartassness only added to the already existing chemistry. And the sex scenes? OMG, Lisa Kleypas killed it with the steam! Iβve never read such kinkiness and sensuality in a historical romance ever before. You, my lovely thirsty bitches, will be pleased indeed.
The development of the relationship didnβt feel rushed. Amanda and Jack were given more than enough time to get to know each other but apparently not enough to trust. Donβt worry though, no stupid misunderstanding will spoil your enjoyment of the book. There was also a quite expected plot twist towards the end that only added to the angst and drama. But again, you wonβt be disappointed.
Long story short, I enjoyed Suddenly You tremendously, and so will you!
