SYNOPSIS

Fake. That’s what we are. That’s what we agreed to be.

I thought it would be harder, convincing everyone our school’s star receiver was mine and mine alone, but we played our parts well. So well, the lines between us began to blur until they disappeared completely. The thing about pretending, though, someone’s always better at it, and by the time I realized my mistake, there was no going back. I fell for our lie. And then everything fell apart. It turned out, he and I were never playing the same game.

He didn’t have to break me to win. But he did it anyway.

BOOK REVIEW

“You don’t have to be looking to find the best fucking thing for you. Sometimes all you have to do is open your eyes and realize it found you first.”

Meagan Brandy’s books are seriously so much fun. They are filled to the brim with constant drama, jaw-dropping secrets, and heart-stopping angst (solely based on my experience with the Brayshaw series). Her writing style is not my favourite but definitely entertaining and easy for a quick read. And Fake It ‘Til You Break It wasn’t an exception. Not going to lie, I instantly became obsessed with Nico’s and Demi’s fake dating story. Or maybe not so fake, I guess?

“He thinks he’s a candy bag and all girls have his kind of sweet tooth, and when you don’t, you’re as worthy as a wallflower.”

Nico was such a doll (his silent jealousy acts were so cute OMG)! He did a really good job hiding his damaged heart behind a mask of a cocky jock who radiated arrogance, stubbornness, and hot-headedness. In actuality, he was extremely sweet and caring, romantic in his own unique kind of way and loyal to a fault.

“You’re supposed to act like you want me. That is you job.”

After a moment I nod, reiterating what he said to me before, “Make people believe this.”

He shakes his head, reaching up to tuck a loose of my hair behind my ear.

“No?”

“No,” he confirms. “Not people… Me. Make me believe it, D.”

Demi was quite nice. Determined, dutiful, and possessing inner strength to take the right battles to fight or retreat from (SPOILER! Now, I’m wondering why the author makes moms in her books so… disgustingly unlikable).

Both Nico and Demi were adorable in their oh not so fake relationship! The chemistry was combustible. Every single moment they shared was just electrifying, similar to the small steps made in a sensual dance between two still burning tormented souls. I think I had a cuteness overdose rather than a sexual one this time around!

Fake It ‘Til You Break It was a perfect quick and easy read. The book contained one of my favourite tropes of all time, aka ‘fake dating’ (so, no wonder I was hooked right after reading the synopsis). The main characters were loveable and to die for. And there also were some little plot-twists that reminded me of tiny colourful sprinkles over a delicious cupcake on my mom’s kitchen counter. Anyway, definitely read Nico’s and Demi’s story!
