SYNOPSIS

She’s addicted to sex. He’s addicted to booze… the only way out is rock bottom.

Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.

Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.

But as they sink beneath the weight of their addictions, they cling harder to their destructive relationship and wonder if a life together, for real, is better than a lie. Strangers and family begin to infiltrate their guarded lives, and with new challenges, they realize they may not just be addicted to alcohol and sex.

Their real vice may be each other.

In the conclusion to their love story, Lily & Lo stand side-by-side to fight, one last time, for their happily ever after.

BOOK REVIEW

We lied for each other and hid our infidelities, playing the role of doting boyfriend and girlfriend. The deeper we sink, the harder it is to crawl out. I fear the moment when… someone discovers our secrets. At any moment, everything can crumble beneath us.

Addicted to sex Lily and addicted to alcohol Lo were childhood friends who were burdened by their overly demanding infuriating families, damaged, and impossibly lonely (you’ll get that type of emptiness once you read the series). However, they had undeniably beautiful and all-consuming feelings towards one another that helped them to stay strong enough to fight their own and common battles. Lily was always there for Lo, and Lo was always there for Lily. Their relationship was very messy but also very real. Truly inspiring!

“I’m not one of your conquests,” he says in a throaty voice. “I know what you want, and you don’t need to take it. I can give it to you... Let me try,” he says, his hand cupping my face. “Let me try to be enough for you.”

OMG I became addicted to Loren Hale! He was such a deeply tormented but painfully beautiful soul. Lo was flawed, seemingly beyond repair. But the parts of him that stayed untarnished, the only ones he loved in himself the most were the parts that belonged to Lily. His love for her was the biggest I’ve ever come across, seriously.

There’s something about Lily that makes all the terrible parts of me seem irrelevant. That makes a bad day momentary and a good one infinite. It’s love like this that’s worth living for.

Lily was such an intriguing female character, portrayed in a very unique way. The authors did an amazing job describing Lily’s struggle against her addiction—her self-loathing, pain, and all the emotions in-between. She didn’t seem promiscuous despite such a socially damned stigma attached to her. She turned out to be heart-wrenchingly raw, the one you can easily relate to, connect to. I was pleasantly surprised to see her strength and devotion and determination to help Lo despite the prominence of her own weaknesses, as well as inner battle against her vicious addiction.

“Lily Calloway… all this time, your superpower has been loving me.” Tears cloud my eyes, and they don’t stop, especially as he adds, “And you’ll be happy to know that I’m not mortal.”

“You aren’t?” I choke.

“No.” He shakes his head, brushing away the wetness beneath my eyes. “Because my superpower is the love that I have for you. It’s out of this world, extraordinary, incomprehensible kind of love. And no one and nothing on this Earth comes close to it.”

The Addicted book series was super emotional for me, keeping me on the edge and in tears all the fucking time. My heart was filled with so many conflicting emotions all at once. I just felt so connected to these fascinating characters I couldn’t help but get seriously attached. I’ve never felt so deeply invested in the fictional couple of so flawed and damaged characters who clearly loved each other so fucking much and did their very best in order to make it through together. Both Lily and Lo knew perfectly well that they could do anything as long as the other was by their side… It was truly the most incredible, epic, out of this world love story I’ve ever had the pleasure to read!

“I speak for everyone here today, he tells us, when I say that you two—Lily and Loren—are the strongest people we’ve all ever had the honor to meet.”

8. SOME KIND OF PERFECT by Krista & Becca Ritchie

SYNOPSIS

The conclusion to the epic ten-book series about the unbreakable strength of family, friendship, and love.

Lily & Lo are back one final time. Childhood best friends and soul mates.

Ryke & Daisy are back one final time. Wild risk-takers and flirty adventurers.

Connor & Rose are back one final time. Genius rivals and intellectual teammates.

Ten years of laughter. Of heartache. And love.

BOOK REVIEW

Independence has nothing to do with whether or not someone chooses to be single or to be married, to have children or to not have children. Independence by definition is about self-governing. About choosing for yourself. About making your own decisions.

Lily & Lo, Connor & Rose, and Ryke & Daisy had finally become independent after ten years of laughter, of heartache, and love.

I absolutely loved the conclusion (definitely not the end) of the most addicting series ever, and so will you, no doubt!
